Answer» Hi everyone!
I've recently rediscovered my old 286 games machine and was looking forward to having a bit of fun with it but I get the error: "insert system boot disk". I don't have a boot disk for it but is there any way I can make one? I do know it was CUSTOMISED, but I don't know the specifics. From memory it would load to a menu/button sort of system divided into categories, but i also had some version of windows.
I know it's an antique but I FIGURE I may as well GIVE it a shot Thanks, InnleIf it has Windows, and a proper Hard Disk Drive, and its presenting the "Insert Boot Disk" message, your hard drive has probably crashed. (Like mine did I miss that 4MHz machine)
Boot disks are available at: www.bootdisk.com (Try the DOS Boot Disk version 6.22) Once you get the boot disk in, try the following commands: Code: [Select]C:\ cd C:\ dir Code: [Select]D:\ cd D:\ dir
Tell us what those commands end up showing
Thanks for replying Zylstra. I put the disk in and tried the commands you suggested but all I could get was "invalid drive specification" But When I rebooted it for a SECOND try, just to be sure, it loaded up perfectly and just as I remember! Thankyou for helping me fix the old gal! InnleQuote from: Innle_Azure on July 17, 2007, 06:41:42 AM Thanks for replying Zylstra. Run Scandisk once you get a chance. Those old MACHINES hard drives fail very rapidly.
