I'm thinking of getting OEM Vista 64 bit with upgrade to W-7 for a brand new pc I built.  Any DOWNSIDES to going with OEM that anyone knows of?No drawbacks i can think of...

Where did you shop for your upgrade version?As far as i know 1 is not being BUNDLED with any Vista product...
Some RETAILERS are selling new machines that ship with Vista and qualify for a free Win7 upgrade when it's released...

If you can find a GOOD deal on Vista that's another option.

Congrats and Welcome to CH !I recommend you just purchase Windows 7 and in the meanwhile, use the RC. I also recommend you use a Retail copy because if your PC breaks, Windows can be installed on another computer, instead of buying a new copy.An OEM liscense can still be valid with a MBoard/CPU replacement...no need for a full priced Retail liscense...
