Answer» I have a huge PROBLEM. I accidentually erased my whole document and I saved it. The problem is: I have no backup of the document (I know, stupid). Is there any way to restore that document?Quote I accidentually erased my whole document and I saved it.Isn't that statement contradictory? i think he means he overwrited it with something elseQuote QuoteI accidentually erased my whole document and I saved it.Isn't that statement contradictory? I mean, I earesed my whole text, not the file itself. I actuadentuly selected EVERYTHING and with without seeing it a pressed a letter on my keyboard with my ELBOW just before safing :sI can feel your pain but all I can suggest is GOOGLE on undelete files and start searching for a tool that might recover your file. I believe, in the mean time, I would avoid using that computer if possible. Any new saving of files is going to reduce the chances of being able to recover it. You would have to access the hard drive for surface reading... thats all I can really tell you. Then you would have to find where the file was. Thats why I have backup and restore programs on my computer.some where on your computer there is a place where the auto-save stuff goes but im not sure where. if you have auto save enabledhttp://www.amset.info/tips/office-recovery.asp maybe this will helpWord can be set to auto-save and it used to save the file if a sudden power outtage occured, etc. I don't know if that feature has been eliminated because it was too helpful or what. The auto-save feature is still part of WORD but it must be set as enabled. I believe it is set as enabled by default. But, I'm not sure if it is going to be of any help in this situation, given that the file was overwritten by the user. To check your setting for this feature, go to Tools, Options, Save, and see whether the box for "Save AutoRecover info every:" is checked. I'm referring to Word 2003.PC File inspector, try it. But it can only find the file if it has been deleted. However, you may able to relocate a temporary file used by Word.. Doubtful, but happy hunting! |
