Answer» Hello everyone. I have a computer thats a few years old and is a Windows XP. I've had it for awhile it is barely still alive because of all the junk thats on it. It is so slow its sad. My family just recieved a new Window's XP Home Edition from the insurance COMPANY cause all of ours cd's got stolen. I was wondering if there is any way I could delete windows and EVERYTHING off the computer and then re-install Windows xp Home Edition on it to where it wold be like new. if any one has any INFORMATION, it would be very very helpful. THANK you!!!

Thank you agian!1)If it is running slow, try defragmenting the HD. Go to My Computer and open it. click the right mouse button on the C drive. then go down to properties. click the tools tab. click defragment. click drefragment when the box comes up. walk away cause it could take awhile.
2) If you REALLY want to erase your HD, try reformatting it. . .How do I install Microsoft Windows XP?XP Clean Installing XP Compatability Test XP Partition Management XP Installing Recovery Console

Powertoys/TweakUIOkay. So i followed the instructions and did it. but I Couldnt delete the partition "Hp_pavillion (C:)" and so that takes up 32 GB. So I re-installed windows XP on a partition with about 4 GB. Did I make a big mistake?HP should have some Restore CDs and you should have asked the Insurance company for those.
If you don't mind losing everything HP then you could delete the partitions, re-partition and re-install.
I would ask HP if they can supply the Restore CDs.Tell me if I'm wrong, but couldn't he just have put the XP disc in his drive, and chosen an option to re-install, w/o keeping any of the settings? It would not let me delete the Hp_pavillion partition because of some of the settings were being used or something.
