Answer» I just about have my PROJECT done. All I need to do is change the look of only the log off background screen. Everything else is done. Boot and log on screen are set and running fine. I have been hunting on the internet for instructions for changing only the log off background screen and so far I have found many instructions for changing boot and log on screens with only a vague reference to changing the log off background screen. But no hard and fast instructions. It would be much appreciated if someone could point me to a set of instructions for Xp. 98SE was easy to change the log off screen without effecting the log on screen. A ps, I saw online tonight of a way to delay the AMOUNT of time the log on box stays up after the password is entered. (now I can't find it again). I am trying to SYNC a wav file saved in the start win event box so the wav file will complete playing before the DESKTOP loads. Steve I played with this like 11 years ago through registry changes. I'll see if I can find the registry keys to change and post here. A friend of mine took this challenge on in our college course for extra credit since he forgot to get an assignment in on time. He shared with me how to do it and I played around with it myself. I think the image had to be bit map only and had to be of specific dimensions to work. The keyword is: kiosk For years companies have used off-the-shelf- OS to run a stand-alone system for retails POS and travel guides and that kind of thing. Yeah, it looks tacky when p[people see the windows logo at start and end of a session. One workaround is to leave the system on all the time and use hibernation mode. With a few minor changes for like the communications and engineering stations and so on. It won't be 100% looking like the bridge set that was used in the tng tv prog's and movies. But this is the best we can do with funds and materials available. My part of this deal is the computers and electrical wiring because I have an AA degree in electronics, 2 way radio, tv and vcr repair. And there is a prize for the best looking display. We have 2 carpenters in the group that are over seeing the construction of the set. That is in a nut shell the overall picture. They are customizing the Windows UI to appear like the terminals that are found in Star Trek TNG/Voyager/DS9. However based on the fact that the linked program does not provide that capability I'm quite certain that it will not serve that purpose.It is not easy to change the shutdowns screen. I read somewhere there is a registry key for that.
