Solve : Random Muting?

Answer»

My computer's sound randomly mutes itself.
Sometimes when I'm a site with videos, I'll get a "LAME codec... mp3dev.org... Lucas Granito" error message. Sometimes the videos will play without sound, but it usually crashes the browser. I can't play any sound files either. No changes to the speaker settings.

I tried re-installing the codec. I tried antivir and malaware searches. I even tried re-installing my realtek hd audio driver, but WINDOWS wouldn't let me.

Any ideas?Explain exactly what you mean by Windows not allowing the driver install...Driver UNPACKS, but when it GETS to a certain point, Windows says that the install file doesn't contain anything it needs (or something) and shuts the installation down. Device manager says the drivers are fine.Where are you installing these drivers from? Here's the most recent error message:

I tried downloading the driver from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false or where ever Realtek re-directed me to.And the more common error message:
