Solve : question about installing xp on a p3 computer?

Answer»

Hey guys I want to install win xp home on a p3 600megahertz computer with 128mb of ram all I want to do with it is use it as a nas storage so I can access it on the network if I need too. Thanks I think I can but I'm just wondering what your opinon would be never mind sorry I installed xp home and it seems to work really well I also installed avast antivirus too and it didn't slow it down hardly at all that's the only thing i'm going to install on it for right now. Windows XP works good on older machines...
until you start installing a LOT of STUFF you don't need.I agree but really the only thing I'm using it for is to backup important files I'm also shocked that it would work on it with only 128mb of ram The MINIMUM hardware requirements for Windows XP Professional include:
    * Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
    * At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
    * At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk
    * CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
    * Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
    * Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution
    * SOUND card
    * Speakers or HEADPHONES

Above taken from Microsoft.
What is missing from the above is the personal needs of the system installer person.
A recommend list is:
1.)  One medium Pizza with extra cheese.
2.)  Two large bottles of Coca Cola.
Of course, you needs may vary.
