Answer» Is it possible for a TV station or network to prevent you from recording a movie with your DVD Recorder? Today I was recording a movie off The Movie Network; it stopped recording about 5 – 10 minutes into it. A message came up on my DVD recorder saying, “SOURCE is copy right protected, recording terminated”. Please let me know if you ever heard of this happening before, or if it has happened to you. I GIVE up. Is this on your COMPUTER, a stand alone recorder or what? Of course it is copyrighted so you can't legally do that anyway according to Hollywood. If it's not hardware restricted now, it soon will be.It's a stand alone DVD recorder HOOKED up to my TV.I think new ones have that function built into them to prevent PEOPLE from copying movies (for now) and any copyrighted material - old TV series, etc. (very, very soon, if not now!).
