Answer» Hi there,,I know I don't have much memory but SINCE I installed McAfee Security Center Suite 7.0 my puter continues to freeze. I assume its because its always at 100% load since there are 11 start-up items JUST for McAfee (when I did the msconfig) What I'm wondering,,is IF there are any of the McAfee start-up items that I 'kind of/sort of' don't need to be totally protected until I can afford more memory). I have Windows 98/IE 6.0 Thank you in advance for any ideas JanJan:
The safest way is to open the Security Suite and FIND the options or SETTINGS. Then, choose to disable everything but what you really need.
If that doesn't work, let us know, and someone will explain how to disable startup programs in the System Configuration Utility.
Regards, DocYoure awesome Don't mind me lol I just have no clue what I actually need from all those McAfee items. If I'm not mistaken, when I FIGURE out whats really not needed per say, then I'd uncheck those on the System Configuration?Too late I know, but if you can take McAfee back saying that it is too much for your computer and use AVG Free Home Edition and Zone Alarm Free Home firewall INSTEAD you might have enough cash for the RAM.
Otherwise, if McAfee is anything like Norton System Works, do a re-install and only select the Anti-Virus and Firewall for installation.
