Solve : Problems with video files?

Answer»

My color output changes very weirdly when I play .avi, .wmv, .mpg, etc.. it doesn't matter what player I open the file with so I'm pretty sure it's not program-related. I am using win98 se w/ geforce fx5200 and latest drivers. can anyone help?TYPE dxdiag in the box and test for graphics, how much ram have you got?384 mb and the tests ran fine, but apparently there was a problem accessing directshowAwoodman:

When did this behavior begin? (Did it start just after you added a NEW video card?)

What do you mean by "color output changes very weirdly"?  (Do you mean the image is WAVY? or do you mean a primary color is missing?  or do you mean the image flickers?  Is the video action slow?)

PLS let us know,
Docthis began within the last few days and i have not recently added a new video card. the video doesn't run slow, but it could be the primary color is missing. it almost looks like a negative image. Quote

latest drivers

From where?from any media player. .mov files are PLAYING okay, all other files are having problems.what display settings are you running on 16 bit..yeah i have it set at 16 biti set it to 32 bit and that seems to have fixed the problem. thanks merlinpower supply unit .........does the pc have enough cooling fans.........try a degass on the monitor........via the monitor menu.....actually that seems to only have worked temporarily and i have to switch between 16 and 32 between every video file played.16 bit is the best....... Degauss only worked temporary? Move the monitor away from objects that exercise magnetic influence..the only magnetic device near the monitor is the sub which is 4 feet away.
