Answer» I have a P4 2.8 GHz, with GeForce 4 Ti 4400 TD128 in it, and 512 MB of DDR. Now, after a few minutes of playing a game (any game), the sound gets cut off for some reason. Right after that happens, the monitor begins to flicker... Then it returns to its original mode, but still- no sound, and the monitor tends to turn off and on every few seconds. It happens to me in any game, all are games that my computer ALREADY ran smoothly. The problem just... started... for no obvious reason. Even ones which aren't very demanding... When I do regular office work on it, nothing happens. But every time I play, the problem occures in minutes- not in a specific point of a game- just like that. Would you help me finding the source of the problem, and fixing it? Thanks, GuyGuy...... Does your sound work ok if you play a cd or play a vid clip ?
dl65 Yeah, it works FLAWLESSLY until I play a game...Guy....... Is the cooling fan working ok on the card ......because it almost sounds like as soon as you put a bit of load on the card it's starting to break down.... Do you have another vid card you could swap it with just as a test ?
dl65 Okay, I opened up the computer case, and it SEEMS like the card fan is out of order. The WHOLE fan area is reaaaally hot, and it doesn't vibrate as it did when it worked... So thanks, that would PROBABLY be the main source for the problem. Hope to get a new VGA soon.
Thanks! ^^Guy.... Hopefully all you will have to do is replace the cooling fan ........
dl65 I wouldn't run this system very long like this as you could wind up frying other components such as the MBoard and or the CPU itself... Those fans aren't difficult to replace at all but get a good one preferably with sealed bearings.
Cheaper than a new CPU for sure.
