Answer» When trying to install certain programs/games such as C++, MSDN library, or even the original Half-Life(oddly HL2 installed WITHOUT any problems),I keep GETTING the same error MESSAGE. The error reads as follwed: config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. CHOOSE 'Close" to terminate the application. I tried going into the properties for the programs and changing the compatabilty, but it did nothing. Any suggestionse?Copy all the files to a temp directory and RUN the setup in compatability mode.http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/16-bit-MS-DOS-Subsystem-Error-Quick-Fix.shtmlTo fix run the following from the command prompt: copy c:\windows\repair\config.nt c:\windows\system32 After you copy the file, find it in Windows Explorer, click properties and lock it down by giving it a read-only attribute. This also works for autoexec.nt
