Solve : problems attaching a file?

When trying to attach a file by clicking on browse the screen returns to the inbox screen.  It does not allow me to browse and attach a file.  Why?  

p.s. this happens when using any email application except outlook.  For example if I TRY attaching a file under hotmail or other ISP email application it will no allow me to attach a file.  No errors are given just returns to ORIGINAL screen (inbox)Do you have virus protection? Have you scanned for viruses and Spyware recently?

Outlook has no limit, unless your ISP has one.Good point... Forgot about that one.. How big is the file?

You are in luck. The Gods recommend AVG Free Home Edition.
Everyone has great ideas but the problem is it never ALLOWS me to browse any folder to attach a file.  Now the computer is giving me a message that it is low in disk space.  It has approx. 339mb left.   :-/
Download, install and configure the following programs:

AVG Free

Adaware SE Personal
-- Anti spyware scanner
Microsoft Antispyware
-- Anti spyware scanner. Windows XP Home and Professional only.
Spybot Search & Destroy
-- Anti spyware scanner
ZoneAlarm Free
-- Free firewall - more user friendly
Sygate Personal
-- Free firewall - more configuration options
