Solve : Problem with colors?

Answer»

Well, I have searched this topic but I couldn't find anything so I decided to post it.

The Problem:

I usually run my computer with the High Color(16 bit) color setting and 1024 by 768 screen size but this morning when I turned on my computer it had the 16 color setting and 640 by  480 screen size. I thought that it was just a small thing and all I had to do was change it back to the normal settings, which I did but it doesn't WORK. It doesn't change at all and I've tried to set it back to the settings I want and it tells me that it needs to restart my computer for the settings to take effect but when it reboots its STILL the same. I've tried everything that I thought might be the problem but nothing. I ran spyware scanners and virus scanners to see if that might be the problem but it wasn't. I even tried to do system restore but that doesn't work either. I run on Windows ME.

Any help would be appreciated very much. Thanks in advance.Try reinstalling your video card drivers. They might have somehow got screwy, also check your monitor.

Video Card Driver:

The first time it didn't do anything, but I'm going to try it again now.
Disable system restore...........and scan again for bugs......or from safemode do it.>>......f8 key on boot.......chose from the on screen list........safe mode and scan again.........or type dxdiag in the run box box.....and test graphics...........or just reload the video drivers........from the recovery disk.....options.....to try...

Do you have a plug in video card?BobB:

OK, lets check the status of your video card or controller:

1. Right-click My Computer
2. Select Properties from the menu
3. In System Properties, choose the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button
4. In Device Manager, click on Display Adapters to expand it
5. Right-click on the adapter (if there is more than one, then tell us!) and choose Properties from the menu
6. In the display adapter's properties, choose the General tab and look for Device Status
7. Write down what it says for Device Status and leave a reply here with the exact text

We will let you know where to proceed from there.

Doc
It says:

NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT

Device Type: Display Adapters
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Hardware version: 021

Device Status:
This device is either not PRESENT, not WORKING properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 24).

Try Upgrading the device drivers for this device.

This is also after re-installed the drivers twice.

Sorry for double-posting, but I fixed it. I'm not sure what the problem was but after uninstalling my old driver for the third time and installing a completly different one, it started working.

Thanks for all the help,
