Solve : precautions to take when going XP??

Answer»

i'm changing an old Vaio laptop to XP and want to be able to go back to Win98 if it doesnt work out. Have already BACKED up the drivers, is there anything else I should save? Maybe something to do with power management? Are there any files I COULD use with XP?

Any help would be much appreciated!

-cClick on the link below and take the compatability test at PC Pitstop.OK, did that, says it's all good... any other precautions i could take?

-cHave at least 512 MB of RAM and do a clean install re-partitioning and FULL formatting the PARTITIONS using only the XP SP2 CD.

Back up all of your personal data, email, address book, favourites, etc.

Take a drive image of your current INSTALLATION so that you can easily restore it if you need to.upgrade winxp disk.......or its a full retail disk....... Quote

Backup your valuable data? (Just a thought.) Be SURE and format the drive. Don't make the mistake of an over the top installation. Always pitfalls there.....by installing winxp upgrade disk.........win98 is still there on the hard drive>.protected>thanks all for your help, it worked out fine! just need to upgrade the memory now......
