Answer» Does anyone know why .png images don't appear correctly using operating systems such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional?
I'm at work...and the image in my website's forum header doesn't appear correctly using XP Pro.
However, XP Home EDITION shows the image just fine...
What's up with that?I'm using XP Home and it looks great.
You think it something to do with the BROWSER or maybe the resolution?Looks fine on my Win XP Pro system. Do you have more than one web browser installed? Does it appear the same way in both/all?It's IE6, it can't render transparent backgrounds on png images, it renders the background grey instead. IE7, Firefox, and other browsers render the transparent background, well, transparently. Hope this helps. Thanks guys...
It is IE6, come to think of it...it has to be the browser. Other browsers seem to display it properly. ...IE7, Firefox, Opera, SAFARI...
Makes you WONDER why the corporate arena doesn't update their systems. Guess it has to do with the software environment...since some corporate applications only work with IE6.
Thanks for the quick replies...much appreciated. You're welcome. I've had to work round this before with websites, I'm just thankful that IE7 actually fixed this as I wasn't expecting much to be honest. I guess the fact that they haven't updates IE6 yet is probably company policy, possibly laziness. Most places do seem to follow the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra.I'm actually a BIG fan of the mantra, "If it ain't broke, fix it til it is"
