Answer» ok here goes i am trying to reformat my computer with xp it formats my hd then when it reboots i get message "couldnt open drive bla bla" when i take the xp cd out and restart it i have a blank screen with blinking cursor in left HAND side, i have 2 hard drives and i have tried with both and get same problem, i read that my bios might NEED to be changed but i dont know how or what to change, i have changed the boot from cd and then tried the boot from hd and nothing is working? im very stressed please any advice?? You need to set the CD-ROM drive as the first boot device. But first, insert the Windows XP CD-ROM. You should be prompted to enter the setup by pressing any key. yeah ive done that and pressed any key to boot from disk when that comes up, i get passed the partition drive stuff so it has copied the files but when it goes to restart the computer that message keeps coming up Once it is done reformatting, you need to ignore the message and let Windows XP begin installing. It will do so after the prompt is gone.ok thanks maybe i need a little patience!!!! I'll try waiting to see if it works ???im going grey real fast hehe this is what i have done so far..... welcome to set up...format partition using ntfs.....setup is formatting.... please WAIT while setup copies files to windows installation folders........ this portion of setup has completed computer will restart........then i get message "couldn't open drive multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1) NTLDR: couldnt open drive multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1) I have waited and nothing is happeninggggg also if i push any key now the computer restarts and the same message comes up again soooo i took out the cd and tried restarting the computer again and all i get is a compac logo saying 348mb ok then a black screen comes up with a blinking cursor in top left hand corner, i have double, TRIPLE checked all cables plugged in correctly. if i unplug that hd and try other hd i have same problem but when i take cd out for that hd it says ntldr missing press any button to restart so i do that and still get ntldr missing.................? is my computer shagged??Is that you, Laurie?NOPE i'm not laurie!!
