Answer» SOMEONE please help me. I have been up all night trying to find out the characteristic associated with Windows 98 & OS/400. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I need a web site or anything. Please point me in the right direction. What exactly do you mean by "characteristic"? Windows 98 is for personal computers. OS/400 is an operating system for an AS/400 (midrange computer). They don't talk to each other without some AS/400 emulation software and hooks on both ends. GaryOk What you just said is greek to me. We are doing a Matrix on 6 Operating systems. They are Windows 98, OS/400, Windows XP, Linux, Unix, and OS2. We have to answer yes or no to these questions and give adequate documentation to support our answers. These are our questions. 1. Allows real-time High-Volume Transactions 2. Graphical User Interface 3. COMMAND Line Interface 4. Menu DRIVEN Interface 5. Mainframe Environment 6. Windows Environment 7. Can allow Web User Interface 8. Boot disk capabilities/issues 9. Migration across platforms 10. Supports Client/Server access 11. Format capabilities/issues 12. 16 Bit Processing 13. 32 Bit Processing 14. 64 Bit Processing 15. CISC Architecture 16. RISC Architecture 17. Memory Intensive 18. Supports Multiple Processors 19. Partitioning available 20. Back/Restore capabilities/issues Maybe this will give you more insight into what I have been looking for. I've found GUI on some of them. I've also found some of the 16, 32, & 64 Bit Processing. I'm so sorry for putting any of you through any TROUBLE! Thank you so much for helping me. OS/400 is a proprietary operating system for the IBM AS/400 midrange computer. An AS/400 is not a pc or a server in the standard definition of the term. BTW (OS = operation system, AS = Advanced System). "Back in the day" just before PCs the System36 and AS/400 were the main company computer systems for smaller and mid-level businesses as well as some large ONES. The AS/400 still has a large presence in many many companies and IBM still produces and sells them. It is a great machine and very very very reliable. It doesn't do graphics, gui, etc. but for pure reliable data processing you can hardly beat it. For more information on AS/400, OS/400 etc. you might want to start at www.ibm.com.
