Please help.

My brother is having some serious issues with his computer.

Everytime he clicked on "My Computer", "My Documents", etc.

Its all the files and folders that the computer stores.

Anyway to fix this.

Here is what the error reads:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shutdown"

So he cannot get access into it or any other folders stored.

Whats wrong and how can i fix it ?

ps: If you have solution please be detailed, I am not much of a computer guy.BR3AKDOWN.....Well , we should really have a bit more info on the problem ...LIKE what O/S is being used ? What was he doing just before this started ? Has he tried rebooting and then try to open again ? When was the last time a full virus scan was run ?

Yes he has restarted the system, nothing worked.

He used a SPYWARE and virus program today.


He said one time when he turned on his computer it just didnt work. I DONT know what he was doing before this. He claimed he didnt do anything.Your might like to try this, right click on a empty space on the desktop>properties window will open>click on properties>then click destop>at the bottom on the left click on customized desktop>and untick all the boxes>click apply>OK then restart  and go back retick the boxes in customized desktop.I will try this thanks for the help.

Just tried it, It didnt work the FIRST time.

I think it is like all the Microsoft services such as My Documents, My Computer, Search. Etc.Sorry that did not work- it has worked on the computers I did it on. Maybe your operating system has been corputed some where a long the way. May be you should try to repair it by loading the system disk and booting to it. Make make sure you click the "R" otherwise you will format the hard drive.
