Answer» When I pinned the outlook 2013 app to the start in WINDOWS 8.1 the charm did not display that it was Outlook 2013? I clicked on the blank charm and outlook 2013 opened? Why is there not any info on the charm?Did you pin a shortcut or the .EXE that launches it ? ? When I pinned the outlook 2013 app to the start in Windows 8.1 the charm did not display that it was Outlook 2013? I clicked on the blank charm and outlook 2013 opened? Why is there not any info on the charm? Items pinned to the Start screen are not "Charms"; Charms are the items you see when hovering the pointer over the top-right of the screen. The items that are in the start screen are called badges. That said, I'm not sure why it would be blank. Does the non-pinned Outlook 2013 Badge appear properly? How are you pinning it? References: Tile and tile notification overview and Badge overviewWhen I originally pinned the app to the start , the tile had the outlook symbol and outlook 2013 on it. I then unpinned it , and realized I did want outlook 2013 on my start page. When I re-pinned the app from the app list . I got the blank tile? Thanks for the TERMINOLOGY references.Have you re-booted, i.e. restarted, as patio asked? Quote from: soybean on March 13, 2014, 06:51:15 PM You mean tiles, not badges, in this case.So it would seem! I suspected that the problem was that it was readded afterwards, since normally the installation adds it as a Tile in the start menu. However, I found that I was able to remove outlook 2013's tile, and then re-add it again. I re-added it by using Start-Search to search for outlook and then pinning the outlook 2013 result, and it appeared pretty much as before (blue tile with the outlook 2013 icon). As others have suggested a reboot is probably a good thing to give a try, if you haven't already.Yes I had already rebooted when I first had the problem 2 days ago. I just did the search for Outlook 2013 on the START page , found the app, right clicked and pinned to start! Same result, one blue tile without any information on the tile. When I access the tile, outlook 2013 opens?? Use Explorer...check these 4 locations...when you find the .exe right clik that...or drag it to pin...the icon should show after a reboot.Quote For Win7 32 bit: |
