Solve : Phone Call Came Through Comp Speaker?

Answer» My first question is what happened to my question? Why is it not in the list? I am henceforth asking it again because I want to KOW why my phone call was coming through my computer speaker.

I don't have a phone mic or any comp accoutrement and my phone 'hands free' was off.

I
Wasn't this already posted?
A standard modem has a small speaker used to monitor the connection until synchronization is squired. During that time period it amplifies anything on the phone line. Did you have the phone handset off hook?

Hi, and yes the topic was posted, however I never received notification of any replies. Today when I came in to post about something else I noticed the question wasn't in the forum queue so I reposted it.

The answer to the question you asked is yes. I was on the phone talking through the handset for a few minutes then suddenly I heard my convo coming through the monitor or speaker. Anyway, it's NEER happened before and I just wanted to know why it happened now. My mom even heard the echoing sounds of my voice. But it lasted only a minute or two.

So now, I wasn't being lojacked, it was simply a computer modem type thing?

Thanks!
Maybe you modem was set to answer on ring. You voice may have tripped the modem answer circuit and it initialed a connection. Or maybe nit is broke and COMES one randomly. On maybe somebody pulled a prank on you."...somebody pulled a prank on you"

What does that mean? Rather how would they do that? Are you suggesting I've been hacked and my ID compromised?

Let me ask you because I'm not a comp geek in the least. Can anyone place TRACKER on your comp esp someone hwho works in government communications, like a troubleshooter with phone calls and such? I really never got the gist of what he does. Except he works for G'ment.
Your original thread is still there but has been moved down the list.

Anyway, here's my original reply:

It's been a long time since I used a dial-up modem but I do remember occasionally having this happen when trying to dial in when someone was on the phone.

It's nothing to worry about - It's just like when you pick up the phone when the computer is connected and you hear the modem down the phone line, exactly the same but instead of hearing the computer through the phone you are hearing the phone through the computer.

So it's not any sort of tracking/spying, all I can assume is that for some reason when you were on the phone your modem flipped on and tried to connect, possibly DUE to something running on the PC trying to connect to the internet.Okay camerongray... I don't know what it is with the phones in my home they all seem to work when the want. Maybe it has to do with being connected to the comp. I appreciate the help from both of you and would hate to think my friend is tracking me.

About the OP I went down the list at least 2 weeks and didn't see it. Sorry for the double post. HAGO...
When I said prank, I was thinking of someone in your house.
If they could get into your computer they could schedule the modem to start at a later time. Like two minuets later, 'nuff time to go hide.

CH does not endorse such pranks..... No, that's not the case! But thanks for allaying my concerns.
