Solve : Pc freeze during XP setup.?

Answer»

Before I loaded the software in another machine and then installed the DRIVE in this one. As soon as the desktop comes up the Pc freezes and yet - in safe mode it works like a charm.

Laptop Proline M760S (Thank you Mike for the drivers) Originally came out with Vista.

Loading WINDOWS XP Pro SP2

It was suggested I try load Xp on the laptop itself. It was a mission because the DVD Drive was non FUNCTIONAL but I managed with a USB Flashdisk.

Now it freezes during setup the moment we get to the part where the user has to put prefferences in. When i do it fast I can get as far as where it asks for the key CODE and then it freezes on me before I can type it in..

So something tells me the windows XP generc drivers are conflicting somewhere. Is there a way around this?
I believe that if I can get the Manufacturer SPECIFIC drivers on for XP it should work.

Thank you guys for your support on my previous issue.

You cannot install Windows on one machine, move the drive to a different machine, and expect it to work. The OS needs to be installed on the system where it will be used.Yes you told me so before. Quote

"It was suggested I try load XP on the laptop itself."
In my experience it has never happened but just to be sure I -  let me quote. Quote

to load it on the machine in question. Same results roughly.

It loaded well the first time dumping the data on the drive and the second time round it ran setup as if I had a cd in. The rest is what happened.

Now it freezes during setup the moment we get to the part where the user has to put language preferences in. When i do it fast I can get as far as where it asks for the key code and then it freezes on me before I can type it in.
Either the windows generic drivers causes conflict with the hardware OR there is some hardware failure but for some reason it works in Safe mode.
So this is a continuation of another thread? Please do not start multiple threads on the same topic. As you can see it simply caused confusion and a duplication of efforts. I'm locking this thread. Please continue the conversation in the other one.
