Is it a legitimate version of Windows XP? The connection looks good so it must be something amiss with IE. You can find more INFORMATION about that here.It doesn't have SP3 because I lost my install disc and box when I moved some years ago, and for some reason it gives me an error when I go to upgrade... If its a IE problem, why wouldn't other browsers work? Also when I go to update a program, like Malawarebytes, it cannot make a connection? Well, I went through all the steps with the link you provided, still cannot connect with the browser or programs, even though the internet connection is working, I'm perplexed.... Quote If its a IE problem, why wouldn't other browsers work? Also when I go to update a program, like Malawarebytes, it cannot make a connection? So, it's doing it on all browsers? What happens when you run the diagnose connection? Is it always the same site you're trying to access? Did you try accessing any other sites? Perhaps your Home page is not active. Please download and run MS Fix-it from here. Click on "Visit our solution center" and "Internet Explorer".I got fed up with 2 days of fighting with the thing, so I just reformatted the whole *censored* computer, and now everything works fine, thank you for all your help SuperDave.... |
