Solve : Outlook 2003 Problem?

Answer»

I don’t know if anyone can help or not but starting a COUPLE of days ago, I can no longer open EMAIL attachments which have a file folder icon (more files inside the attachment). I can open any other type of attachment (pics, powerpoint, excel, etc). I can’t find anything in Outlook help to perhaps unlock some security feature that has been turned on. I’ve gone into my Outlook file folders and can’t open ANY attachments that have the file folder icon. Rebooting doesn’t help. Any ideas?

I am using Windows XP on an INSPIRON 9300 laptop. I've been using Outlook 2003 for at least 4 years, with no problems.
Any new software installed...such as a protection program and or a firewall ? ?No new program installs other than a couple of games. I have a firewall, but that has been in for some time. This problem just cropped up. No Outlook problem with other computers (wireless laptops) in the house. Maybe a reinstall will be necessary. Are you able to right clik the attachment and save it to your drive ? ?Quote from: patio on February 14, 2008, 10:38:58 PM

I can right CLICK and save the file, but when I try to open the file (in Windows Explorer or My Computer) it reverts BACK to Outlook.Quote

When you save, does it show as a folder, or a file?
Do you try to open saved folder, or file?
When you right click on whatever it is, what does it say under Properties?Robglen, can you explain how someone can attach a "folder"? In both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express, I SEE no option to attach a folder. The screens that appear for inserting an attachment allow selecting a file, NOT A FOLDER.
