Solve : OT Rant - Hacking?

Answer»

I really do GET annoyed with people who label others as hackers, or activities as hacking, without knowing the real meaning of the word.
So please, next time you USE the term hacking, hacker, or similar, please consider the real meaning of the word and consider changing the word you use to one which is more appropriate if necessary.
If you don't know what it means, please look it up.
This isn't GETTING at anyone in particular, it's just something that gets on my nerves.
Thanks.
Calum. Can I guess what happened? You where playing Battlefront and someone called you a hacker? I find in games people label people as hackers because they can't handle the fact they're being "pwned".Actually no, but my friends have been called hackers because they can aim well or they glitched through a wall by accident, that sort of thing.
I do find that happens a lot in games though.
So whilst that wasn't the trigger for my rant, it's another instance of people being wrongly labelled. Here is the real definition of hacker, and here is the definition of a cracker.Aye, that's part of it.
There are many definitions.
The main thing is that people get the two confused.
Or use the terms about hacking to mean utterly different things.I know, it does get annoying.I'm afraid that "hacker" has become synonymous with "cracker", in common parlance. This happens a lot with our beautiful language. It evolves. In time you will come to accept this.

Peace.

In time perhaps.
But not right now, it just makes me angry.
LOL.
And another LOL for Dilbert, nice quote.if there is something more annoying than someone being LABELED a hacker, its a person being labeled a hacker when they are nothing more than a script kiddie. script kiddies that think they can hack are typically more annoying than real hackers..Quote

oh so trueHey everyone has got to start somewhere... Hmm . . .
I actually emailed the Daily Mail the other day on this topic.Hacker:Someone with a severe cough.

Cracker: sometimes "white cracker", is a USUALLY pejorative term for a white person, mainly used in the Southern United States, but in recent decades it has entered common usage throughout the United States.
