would like to have one device to do it all.....that way i have a tablet for portability, laptop/desktop for more serious office type stuff................thinking about an i pad or windows based tablet [perhaps playbook], or ultrabook ...........with ATTACHMENTS to convert [when necessary], into a desk/laptop

...external KEYBOARD.... 23" monitor.....external 1 or 2 tb hard drive....load skype for phone.....

ipad can run hdmi, usb and read flash cards...with proper attachments.....

if ipad...........have used windows for last 15+ yrs.....have many FILES...movies etc.,...is the idea crazy.......will i be able to still see movies, files, pictures etc.......

if you think not ipad.....then playbook...or ultrabook?.....or am i just asking to MUCH of one device.......

Is it mostly for entertainment?

If you are really into a business thing, go lease a high-end model from  HP. There are both tax advantages and technical reasons for leasing.
