Solve : Olympiad: Best practices for your system?

Answer» HI,

Lets start a Olympiad question.

What should one do to keep his system work the most efficiently.Besides the most COMMON ones like

Scanning
Restores
Backups
DefragmentingScanning  Real time protection ---> Tick
Restores Why?
Backups Why?
Defragmenting ---> Tick
Cleanup ---> Ccleaner ---> Tick
Firewall ---> Tick
Disable unused/uneeded services or set to manual ---> Tick
Turn off Wallpaper ---> Tick
Turn off Power saving settings ---> Tick
Turn off all unessential startup programs ---> Tick
Turn down browser cache size ---> Tick
Turn down browser history time ---> Tick

LET me think about it.  I was talking a bit general that's why i included Backups and restores.

Leave it.

You have got some interesting points:
Lemme see ...

Won't Ccleaner come in Scanning ( provided it includes virus, spywares, etc ).
Turn off Wallpaper, Power saving settings    Why
What are Browser Cache size and History time

From the wordings Browser Cache size the amount that it caches, then isn't it good as it will perform faster.
No idea about History time.Aww, OK...

Restores ---> Tick
Backups ---> Tick
Ccleaner...You need to run it & see what it does.
Wallpaper uses memory as do unecessary screen icons.
Power saving, I've noticed that turning off monitor, HARD DRIVE and putting the computer into stand by seems to create a lot of problems for people.
Cache & History, not much point in your browser seaching these when the page I'm going to load has changed anyway. Like every screen in the forums.
It's OK for when you use the 'Back' button.
I set mine on 10Mbs cache & 1 day History.
People would be well advised to set commonly frequented sites into their hosts file file for faster access.

I nearly forgot one!  Registry Cleaner---> Tick  Checked the Ccleaner.

So it does all by itself. It also includes the registry cleaner. ( he he ).

From where do you set the Cache and History option.Control Panel > Internet Options.Oops,

That thing.

I just got confused with something else.

Any other suggestions.
