Answer» DESKTOP 5.downgrading versions of installed apps such asThee is no basis for doing the above. The current Firefox is 9 and is works very well on older computers. But it you want a more spartan browser, try Opera or Sea Monkey. The one single thing you can do to improve the performance would be to up grade to 256 MB of ram. You presently have only 128 MB. You will notice the difference. If you back step to Windows 98 SE you will find some nice programs will not run on Windows 98 SE. Some new programs require the C++ run time library, which does not work on OS earlier Windows XP sp3. Quote Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 editions, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3From MS support for current C++n run time. Keep XP SP3 and add some RAM. There's no way Windows XP SP 3 is going to run with only 128MB of RAM. You need at least 512MB RAM or it'll swap all day long. There's also no POINT in any Windows OS that's out-phased by Microsoft if you want to go on-line, you'll just be an easy target for viruses. Why don't you use Linux? |
