Answer» Every time I boot the WinXP (pro) pc an old Java installer fires up - GOT instructions from java.com to clean registry, uninstall and REINSTALL offline in a new folder but still no luck.
Would really appreciate any further ideas how to get rid of the thing.
Thanks /Niilo in SwedenType msconfig in the run window and see if there is a reference to Java. Download Hijack This and run a Scan then check to delete ALL references to Java and delete ALL folders with Java.
Then I guess you'll want to install the latest Java jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe

I'll definitely give it a try and get BACK to you about the result. I haven't tried HijackThis but cleaned the registry using RegSupreme (tried checking MANUALLY for Java references, too).
/NiiloBingo! HijackThis did the job. Superb tool. I DELETED my StarOffice installation as well since there was a Java entry connected to that, too.
Many thanks! /Niilo
