Answer» just moved in, got a modem, my computer does not acknowledge a connection!!! says dhcp does not work have done all diagnose and repair options modem works on laptop! i need help i have manually changed ip address doesnt help restarted everything nothing and even more and ideas would be apreciated! Can you get the modem to respond to "AT" commands when you USE tip or minicom to talk directly to it?
Please also provide copies of the ppp.conf files (with passwords removed of course) and are you using ndiswrapper or linmodem or did you find a driver specially compiled for your version of linux and laptop modem hardware?
Please provide more details about the hardware and software, and I might be able to help although its been ages since I configured dialup on SuSE.Turn off computer. Disconnect router, and modem from power SOURCE for 30 seconds. Power them back on. Restart computer.
If that doesn't work, bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.
If that doesn't work... Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in: cmd Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one: ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work... Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in: cmd Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
At Command Prompt, type in: netsh int ip reset reset.log Hit Enter. Type in: netsh winsock reset catalog Hit Enter.
Restart computer.
If that doesn't work... Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml Restart computer, and check again.Quote from: Broni on APRIL 11, 2009, 11:55:40 AM Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in: cmd Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
