Answer» I have an issue where my screen is turning blue (NOT THE BLUE SCREEN of DEATH) when I am using the computer. It LOOKS like a desktop screen without icons, taskbar, no curser. I am not able to do anything after this. It does not matter what I'm doing. Could be logging in after it's asleep, burning a cd/dvd, or running a program. Up to a week ago it was working just fine. What might this be?1) What is new or different since the last time EVERYTHING worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
2) Have you run full system scans with both your AV and MalwareBytes?
3) Does the same thing happen in safe mode?Sounds like a virus INFESTATION. You should report to the spyware section.
Either that or your shell was corrupted (Most likely due to). Make sure HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\Shell has "explorer.exe" as a value.According to the first post, it isn't BOOTING to a blank screen, it's turning blank after a period of use. And if indeed that's the case, it has nothing to do with the shell being corrupted.I have run a system scan with pctools ANTI software. There have been not new additions to hardware or programs. I will check in safe mode when I get home. If safe mode does work what do you think it is?Virus?I don't think anything at this point - just going through standard troubleshooting steps to try to find out.Any more information? OS? computer make/model?
