Answer» OK, let me start off by saying my sound card works fine and all my programs have sound. I even have Microsoft money and it plays a startup sound.
However, the sound scheme in WINDOWS XP is no longer working. I can go to control panel/sounds and manually check the sounds and they play but when I start up or END windows there is no start or end sound and there is no sound for exclamation etc.
I don't recall what HAPPENED when it stopped working or how long ago it stopped but I use to have a sound at startup and end and a ding when I did SOMETHING windows didn't LIKE. Have you tried running a Windows Update by going to http://www.microsoft.com ? What about running a repair from your Windows XP CD?
