Answer» I have recently installed WINDOWS XP on my Gateway and found I needed drivers for my monitor. I downloaded what I thought was the correct driver and installed it. Now I have nothing the computer boots up as normal but then nothing just a black screen. I cannot even see the mouse. What model NUMBERS are involved? MONITORS usually do not have drivers as such. Very exquisite ones have .inf FILES for some of their gadgetry. Are you sure the video card is firmly seated? Remove it and reinsert, then turn it back on.Try booting into SafeMode...once there go to Control Panel and un-install the monitor drivers you installed. Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager...right clik the monitor listed and SELECT remove. On re-boot WinXP will use generic drivers to run that monitor until you can find and install the correct ones... patio. 8-)
