Solve : New Monitor no longer supporting the 1900x1080 resolution!?

Answer»

It's weird because it did support the resolution when I first got the computer, but now it doesn't.  XP will only let me go up to 1680x1050, and I checked in the monitor menu and its listed resolution is 1680x1050.  Not sure why it changed.  I've tried restarting the computer and unplugging the connection to the monitor, but it still wouldn't support the bigger resolution.

Stats:

- computer is an older dell-- around 2003.
- graphics card is NVIDEA GeForce LE.
- monitor is an AOC 22 inch wide screen (brand new).
- Connection is analog (not DVI).

Once again, the monitor did previously support the resolution.  Now it suddenly does not.

Thanks for your time.First you say it's a "new" monitor and then you say it worked when you first got the computer. Which is it?

Download and install the latest driver for your video card. Quote

Does the monitor have both analog and DVI connections?  Quote from: Allan on December 20, 2010, 05:43:28 AM

Simple.  It worked when I first got it 3 days ago, then it stopped working the next day.  Is 3 days not new?

You said it worked when you first got the COMPUTER. I now assume you meant it worked when you first got the DISPLAY. Quote from: Allan on December 21, 2010, 09:31:35 AM

Yes.  Good catch.  Quote from: soybean on December 20, 2010, 09:35:15 AM

I believe it has a DVI connection, though I don't have a cable for that.  Here's the info:

Any CHANCE you could try the monitor on another computer, preferably one with a more powerful video card?  That could be a helpful step in DETERMINING whether this is a monitor issue or an issue with your computer.  I have the impression your display adapter, the GeForce 6150LE, is onboard, i.e. integrated into, the motherboard.  In other words, it's not an add-on video card.  Am I right?

Again, exactly, what model (not serial #, the model #) is your monitor?

If the problem persists, I'd contact the manufacturer since the monitor under warranty, or you may be able to return it to the seller since it's a very recent PURCHASE.
