i have just built a pc ,loaded everything onto it including xp.the problem i am having is that when i turn the computer on my icons and task bar show up then disapear then all i have is my help screen for atiinformation.and i can't right CLICK.i have asked for help and have realoded xp.and have tried to work in safe mode to fix the problem.my icons do show up in safe mode and stay there.but not when i take it out of safe mode.so any help would be helpful this is my first HOME built pc thanks joe....pc items       550watt diablo atx power supply,  seagate 200gb 7200 8mbhard drive,  u.s. robotics 56k v.92 performance pro modem,  mach speed sk-9521 10/100/1000 gigabite pci ethernet adapter,  connect 3d ati radeon 7000 32mb DDR/agp/vga/rca/tv out/video card,  samsung /52x32x52 cd-rw,  thermaltake extreme volcano12 /socket a/amd athlon xp up to 3400+/cpu cooling fan,  chaintech s1689 socket 939 atx motherboard and amd athlon 64 3200+ processor,  ultra 1024mb pc3200 ddr 400mhz cl3 memory (2x512mb)You have scanned for Viruses, Trojan Horses and Spyware?its hasnt even been online yet
Re-start in safe mode & check/re-install your video drivers.it hasnt been online yet but i do have norton 2005 installed on it.i just dont know what to do with my icons and taskbar not staying on the desktop.i CANT even right click on it...but if i put it in safe mode the icons stay and so does the taskbar and also i can right click the screen.am i missing something somewere hope you can help thanksi will try it in a few let you know what happensi just tried it nothing new happened same THING stillRe-start in safe mode, go to
Start>Run & type msconfig>Startup, disable the items in there, save/apply/ok etc & reboot, then re-enable the items one at a time re-booting between each one to find what is causing the problem.Is Windows XP set to hide unused system bar icons and remove unused shortcuts...
