Answer»

Hello, I am new and found you all while I was LOOKING through for help....my dad has windows 2000...the problem that he is having is the whole computer is locked, INCLUDING keyboard and mouse. He had been asked for a password and could not get that to work, then, a administrator message came up and listed the name and wanted a password, he x'ed that out and now all he has on his monitor is a picture of a key and nothing works...mouse, keybord, nothing. He is disabled and this is the only THING he REALLY has to the outside world...can someone help. I really hope this is in the correct place.

Thanks so much!Has he rebooted?

Does he actually know his username and password?

Which Windows 2000 is this?yes

yes

and windows professional. The question then becomes is this a Windows password or a BIOS password? WHat are the details of the machine? Is it showing the Windows logo when trying to start or does it not even get that far? There's only one Windows 2000 Rob, it's the one the Professionals use. Quote

*cough*

;DIt did not even get that far. I ended up getting someone to go out there for him. Dad said that the battery (?) needed to be changed (it is a desktop) and that there was a virus that caused the password not to work. The guy fixed all of this for 30 dollars. Thanks you all! I feel CONFIDENT that if it did not get fixed that you all would have eventually have been able to help!! I am glad to be a member now!30 bucks? That's pretty good value for money.

But not as good value as US!!!
