It displays the boot menu to pro or home in the beginnign..is that dual boot?to page 1Dark:

Yes, it sounds LIKE you have set up a dual-boot system with Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional.

Please explain everything that happens when you select Windows XP Professional from the boot menu.  If you get any error messages, please write down every word and let US know.

Regards,
DocHeres what it says when I try to boot Pro:
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

This is what happens when I put my 2nd hd as first boto device.

load the disk that can with it.........it contains files that winxp needs//and your bios......Does it matter if I alrdy installed windows on it?Dark:

Did you set the jumper correctly on the new hard drive?  Is the new hard drive jumpered as a slave and the old hard drive jumpered as the master?

Did you install Windows XP Home Edition from the Windows XP Professional desktop, or did you just boot the computer with the installation CD?

Have you tried booting to Safe Mode with Windows XP Home?  It may be that the display settings are wrong (my GUESS based on the error message you saw).  When you choose XP Home from the operating system menu, immediately begin pressing the F8 key once every second until the boot menu appears, then choose Safe Mode.  If you get to the Windows XP Home desktop, open the Display applet in the Control Panel, click the Settings tab, and move the Screen Resolution slider to the left to something like 800 by 600 pixels.

If you are able to boot normally to Windows XP Home after this, but some devices are not working properly (check the Device Manager), you may still be able to download device drivers from the computer or motherboard manufacturer, or use the drivers from the System Restoration CD.
