Solve : Need Help with A File?

Answer»

I was hunting for a file on a friends computer, but do not want them to know i was looking for it . How do i get the name of the file off the SEARCH field? They run windows 98, On my windows, it doesn't keep track of files looked through.Thats what you get for being nosey. There's a way, but I'm not going to tell you. Why reply if your not going to tell me???I'll be nice...    In the search box, press the DOWN arrow key... Put your mouse over the topic, and press the delete button... Next time, keep your nose where it belongs...

[glb]Flame[/glb]I tried all that with the delete , all it does is remove it from the search box, but in the drop list of things looked for it remains,,, Yes i did a bit of noseying around, it was stupid. But it was nessesary, and besides it wasn't a friends comp like i said it was my husbands ,, thank you.... Quote

I think that MIGHT have thrown us off just a bit with who's files you were looking into... And by the way... You're welcome    Clear your history...

I have cleared history, cookies, internet files. All that, it isn't coming off lol. hhmmmmmmmNot sure how to get that off there now..... What a PICKLE we get ourselves into huh......or should i say a pickle i got into ........o well it isn't like i will be in trouble if it doesn't come off. Would like it to, but not a big deal if it doesn't, he just doesn't like anyone messing with his computer. Especially when that person is good at locking up computers, or crashing them   .BTW, why does it say I love yabsomething or other at the left of the MESSEGE???YABB is the host for this forum.. And that message is the default quote used... It kind of pats the creator's back a little too much in my opionion by how it says love, and that stuff... But, that's the way it is! lol

[glb]Flame[/glb]Wait! There is hope! Thanks to Computer_Commando! See this link, install it, and run it... http://www.browsertools.net/IE-Privacy-Keeper/index.html ...

[glb]Flame[/glb]OK thanks Flame for finding it, But wont he know i installed that on his comp? I had someone tell me to use diskcleanup, but not sure how that works, I dont want to wipe out anything on his system. I just wanted the name of the file gone from the list that drops down in file search. It has about 6-7 other files in the list, and dont want them disappearing . Quote

Not if you use the "take-along" version.
