My 2½¢I think I misread your question.

Do you by chance have the Taskbar set on "Auto-Hide"?
If so, run your mouse-pointer to the bottom of the screen.

If not, try hitting the Windows key.

It just sounds like it is hidden to me... Like Bob said... Try moving your pointer to the bottom of the screen...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Are you the admin??of this pc...........try a re-boot...or hold down the f8 key....option.....last good config....is this a LAPTOP...?/
scan for trojans/worms bugs............disable system restore ..........to clean it.........If you don't get the start bar up by moving you cursor near the bottom of screen even hiden it should reappear, if not it will have been moved right down to the bottom of screen.  You should move the cursor as near the bottom as you can there will be a slight hint of a bar there try to drag it up.  If this fails it could have been moved to the right, left or even top of screen, CHECK these area with the same procedure.

Kim  I have the same problem, When I turn on my computer all I get is my smiley face my daughter did for me, next to my mouse is an hourglass that is blinking like a heart beat.
I have tried to find the start button like it is stated but it is not there, in my close programs there is this bs virus that will not stay closed , could this be a boot SECTOR virus.
Im going nuts over this problem. ???Hello again, I would like to ADD that when I press Ctrl,Alt and delete there is like 4 iexplores, 3 Rundell, and when I try to end the tasks, more come back, there is no systems tray in there could this be the problem.
