I installed a anti viral program from download.com and didnt REALLY like it so i downloaded one form my dsl PROVIDER and it says that i need to uninstall my previous anti viral program(download.com's) so i tried but when i go into control panel-add or remove programs it doesnt let me. FlameHow vague. I WONDER what either program was?I think you may have to to find the right file thats does the thing you might be wanting to do to the program that you want to alter.

I think that should clear you your problem whit the same amout of detail that you posted ^.^

But Realy, if you cant uninstall form the Contorol pannel, you could try looking for the uninstaller.exe for the program you want rid off...

or woul may have to edit your registry to stop itYou may need to use MSCONFIG to make it stop loading.

But before this is done, there are some basic questions to ask:

Is the icon for this AV scanner in the task BAR? (the download.com one)

Is the AV scanner listed in the add/remove programs list, or is there still an uninstaller in the start menu?

What is the name of the AV scanner that you are trying to install? And the one that you are trying to uninstall?

Generally it is not polite to hijack someone else's thread as it confiuses their responses and does not highlight you specific issues, but since you are NEW, and obviously distressed, we'll let that go this time.

Just make it clear that you are not doing this, maybe by making your final lines of each post "Mr. Jerk (or whatever) obviously has no regards for people afflicted with this ailment. Please disregard anything he/she posts and recognize it for the mean spirited crappola that it is" or something along those lines. If this person is logging in under your name, you should of course change this and pick a different password, if this has been compromised. Sometimes pointing it out is enough, but in the end there is nothing you can do by yourself, and it will just make you feel powerless and frustrated when you try. Some people are just jerks, but fortunately that can be easily spotted by everyone. The webmaster would be the only one with the power to ban a poster and/or their IP address.
