Answer» I have a problem with importing EMF FILES into a Word document because I cannot access the cropping tool on the picture toolbar.
EMF files are imported as WHOLE pages. You then right click on the imported page to bring up the 'show picture toolbar' ,and then click on this to bring up the toolbar. The idea is you use the cropping tool to cut the page down to size and leave only the image you want without distorting the image in any way. Unfortunately, the cropping tool stays grey and I can't access it.
The strange thing is that I used to be able to do this, and then all of a sudden I found I couldn't.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Topic title adjustedI'm not familiar with the EMF format. Perhaps you could edit the image using photo editing software and then import it into Word. If Microsoft Paint will recognize EMF files, it might do the job. Otherwise, there may be some freeware alternative that would serve your purpose.
I know this is not an answer to your question of why Word's resizing handle is not available. If you can post a website where I can download an EMF file, I'll try importing into Word and resizing. What version of Word are you using?Thank you for this very HELPFUL suggestion. The original files are in a specialised music writing package (Sibelius). I find I can save them as Bitmap files and CROP them using Adobe Photoshop, and this does the job. It STILL doesn't look quite as good as it did when I was able to save them as EMF files. I will see if I have Microsoft Paint and try again.
I use Word XP. Unfortunately I do not know how to post a website with examples. Your suggestion does however mean I can get the job done.
Many thanks once again. Dermot
