Try using VLC Media Player to play the file. VLC Media player also plays almost all movie files. Link to download: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/I believe you should change the file extension back to the original. Then, try VLC. Changing a file extension is not GOING to convert and .mp3 to a .wma file or vice versa. The file, itself, still has the mp3 or wma characteristics it had before changing the file extension.
