Answer» i recently bought an ibm t42p laptop with window xp professional 2002. i need to move all my files off my old dell PC also with windows xp professional 2002 - problem is, the dell doesn't have a cd burner and my external hard drive can't get enough power to be able to copy files there and then to my NEW laptop. looking for ideas on how to move all the files. i'm not proficient with computers, but can navigate my way around. my external hard drive can't get enough power to be able to copy files there and then to my new laptop Not QUITE following the power angle! All my externals have their own PSU - what have you got. An external is really the way to go if possible.Well, your new toy has Wi-Fi, Right? OK, so just buy one of those cheep $10 wireless dongles and plug it into the old PC. TURN on files haring for My Documents and there you are! thanks to both of you - i'll try the wireless doohickey and get 'er done! happy holidaysQuote from: texnky on December 11, 2008, 07:05:12 PM i recently bought an ibm t42p laptop with window xp professional 2002. i need to move all my files off my old dell pc also with windows xp professional 2002 - problem is, the dell doesn't have a cd burner and my external hard drive can't get enough power to be able to copy files there and then to my new laptop. looking for ideas on how to move all the files. i'm not proficient with computers, but can navigate my way around. use a USB flash drive...!!! then read here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293118 Good LuckSomebody take a poll.
