Solve : movin operating system to other HD?

Answer»

Hi all,
I have TWO separate HARD drives and would like to MOVE
win 98 se to the other HD.
I can easily back up everything on D to C and format D then Rearange the connectors and change the jumper settings.
My question is once I have installed 98 on the "new C" i will have my other drive with all the files installed as D but 98 will be installed on it also.
How will this effect my COMPUTER?
After the drives are installed and working I plan to then format the "old C" (now D)
I'm just worried that I will get conflics because 98 will be installed on 2 drives (untill I can format the old one)
Any help would be apeciated.
Thanks, DarrylWhat you need to do is create an image using software such as Norton Ghost. You can then create a complete image of your system without the chance of damaging or loosing important files.

Simply copying all the folders will most likely result in a damaged operating system which could be beyond repair.

Why exactly do you want to do this? If you create an image, you only have to set the BIOS to boot from HDD 1 should the new HDD be the slave.I am having trouble and would like to switch hard drives.
My main question is.
If you have a computer with 1 HD with win 98 on it and instal a second HD also with 98 on it what will happen.
Will it boot from the first (master) drive and ignore the OS files on the second HD?
Thanks. DarrylIt should boot from the master and ignore the installation at the slave. It may allow you to choose from what installation you wish to boot. If it does not, it can be easily done by editing the boot.ini.

More INFORMATION regarding the boot.ini can be found here.THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCHYou are welcome, come back anytime.
