Solve : Mouse freezing up question?

Answer»

I've tried several different mice, different usb ports on both the front and back of the Dell Dimesion E510, and the mouse freezes up nonstop lately.  If you unplug it and plug it back in, it will work for a while (as in several minutes) before it does it again.

Does anyone have suggestions?  My only idea is a SLEDGEHAMMER followed by a trip to the store to get a new computer.  We REPLACED the power supply just last month.  Thanks for any ideas you might have-I appreciate your help to keep me sane!

Eta:  I've noticed it doing it while using Mozilla Firefox but also during other applications if that matters.  new battery USB mice don't use batteries, unless they're wireless.

Try PS/2 mouse, and see, if same thing happens. Quote from: Broni on July 10, 2009, 05:53:28 PM

We tried  a couple of different mice-same RESULT.  Tried a wireless one with fresh batteries, tried a usb port one, still giving us trouble.  The corded mouse is a Dell brand - if it is a mouse problem, I'd gladly BUY another mouse but I'm doubting that's the problem. No, PS/2 mouse CONNECTOR looks like this:
