Answer» Good morning
I have a Compaq Presario PC (Vista) In trying to download pictures or music I get this error message: You've encountered error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media PLAYER. The following info. MIGHT help you troubleshoot the issue Codex is Missing.
Windows Media cannot play the file( or either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Microsoft MPEG-(50) codex is not INSTALLED on your computer.
The missing codex might be available to download from the internet. To search for the Microsoft-1-(50) codex page see WMPplugin.com.
I then went to WMPPlugin.com and this was my answer-- The codex you are missing is not available for download from this site. You might be able to find it on another site by searching the web for "50"(this is the wave format or Four CC identifier of the codex.
I haven't ALWAYS had this problem and I wonder how it might have started. What next??? To be honest with you I don't understand a thing I have said but I hope you can help.
Ernie in Va.what type of file are you trying to play?http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
