Hello

   Sure hate to bother you fine folks with this problem .  I am trying to run a memory test on my computer , i have put Windows memory test (mtinst) and memtest86 on floppy and cd and when i put eitherone of them in and restart my computer its starts beeping in the windows is shutting down part of the restart.  I do not know how many times it beeps because after it beeps between 65 and 100 times i pull the floppy or cd out.
   Help this OLD man out if you can.

This is somewhat confusing. Memtest has nothing to do with Windows. That is why it is a bootable DISK format.

What happens EXACTLY when you start Windows with the memtest floppy in there? What is on the screen?GX1_Man


   Thanks for your reply sure do appreciate it.  OK , i put the floppy disk (test) in the floppy drive , hit start/restart then i get the logging off then saving setting then windows is shutting down , heres where the beeping starts.  the screen is the regular windows logo with the windows is shutting down deal.
harleyDon't put the floppy in until the machine is completely powered down...then re-boot.Patio
