Laptops with Windows 8.1 installed do not COME with a DVD to install the system again in case of a mayor HDD failure.

Good point. In that case you also make a "image" of the partition onto a backup device. The if the HDD goes south, you restore the image onto a new HDD and then repair it, if needed, with the recovery tool. In some case Windows does not like to be restored from an image. But I can not find a link that confirms that.
