Answer» Should I try to use SDD with Windows 7? About two years ago some people reported BIG problems using SDD and Windows 7 ay boot up. They claimed requent errors when booting.
Has this issue been resolved? Is it now piratical to use SDD as the system boot device? Is it only a Windows 7 problem? Since no one else has responded yet, I'll say what I know: Practicality with SSD right now seems limited to the price. I hear more and more people worrying about the write wear they have (memory can only be written to so many times before it is blocked off). This causes shrinking in available STORAGE space over time. Computers, being the things they are, do make changes to the drives constantly. I still hear talk amongst the other computer scientist students at the college about random SSD failures being a problem, but this seems to be less of an issue than before. Go with a company who has been in the business and who's previous SSD products have yielded good reviews. Check the warranty. Newegg.com reviews about SSD drives by users who have purchased them reveal some very interesting things as well, ESPECIALLY with people complaining that the drives fail within only a week of operation or SIMILAR complaints about loss of function. On the other hand, a few SSD drives listed have a huge amount of reviews with people raving about the SSD's they have just purchased.
I hope that at least stimulates conversation. << Edit: mission accomplished! Thanks for the response. So I will just have to wait.
