Solve : looking for jpgs?

Answer»

I would like to know how do i do a search for all the jpgs on my computer. Do I go to the command prompt and if I do what are the commands I should put in?Assuming your OS is Win XP.

Start>Search - All Files and Folders - type .JPG in the All or part of filename dialog BOX then click on Search.Picasa is a good way to find all pictures on your computer and organize them.CBMatt, I've heard Picasa re-organizes all the photos on the hard drive upon being installed, whether you like it or not. Is that true? Can it be restricted from doing that?Yes it does do that...can create havoc as well.
I have YET to find a setting to prevent this from happening and have STOPPED recommending it...That sounds pretty scary Patio, are you SURE?
I'm not going to try it to find out. LOLWhoa...what? Are you sure about that one? I've had Picasa for awhile now and all of my pictures are where they're supposed to be. I have no knowledge of any pictures on my computer ever being re-organized by it. It re-organizes my pictures WITHIN the software, but my pictures are still in their original locations on the harddrive. Or is this a newer feature? The version i tried was about 3 mos. after release...i haven't gone back to it since.
I believe it's up to Ver. 2.1 now.

I went back to Irfanview and never looked back.Well, if you don't want to use Picasa...

In Command Prompt, type:
for /f %A in ('dir "C:\*.jpg" /s /b') do @echo %A

But it takes a while to find all images. And only in C: drive. Or you could just use Dusty's solution.
